It’s never too late to create positive change in our lives. Therapy should not be about your therapist, it’s about trust, comfort, and your story. The emphasis in the therapeutic relationship is less on technique and more about feeling safe, finding balance, and connectedness.
Psychotherapy is a joining effort between you and your therapist. A healing relationship based on trust and confidentiality. It is a process where you discuss issues, events, experiences, and memories for the purpose of creating positive change. Allowing you to experience your life more fully and provide you with the opportunity to better, and more deeply, understand yourself.
Participating in therapy may involve some discomfort, including remembering and discussing some unpleasant events, feelings and experiences. The process may evoke strong feelings of sadness, anger, or fear. There may be times as your therapist that I will challenge your perceptions and assumptions and offer different perspectives.
Personal growth and change may be easy and swift at times, but may also be slow and frustrating. During the therapeutic process you may find you feel worse before you feel better. This is generally a normal course of events.
My goal, as your therapist, is to facilitate self awareness, growth and personal development by integrating the best traditional and alternative approaches. Understanding and communication, acceptance and empathy, are the keys to emotional healing and well-being.
